As mentioned in Fulya's biography, she spent the better part of her childhood on Turkey's Aegean coast in the south. Of course many Europeans will be familiar with Bodrum, as it is one of the more popular destinations to vacation in southern Turkey. But to Fulya it is home.
It has occurred to us that we might show you with our cameras where it is we come from, as both of us come from exceptionally beautiful parts of the world. The hope is these posts will help make us seem more familiar and give context to our backgrounds. We start with Fulya, and the land of Odysseus and other Greek myths where she was raised. To be honest, these photos hardly do the Aegean coast of Turkey justice, it truly is stunningly beautiful. The lush countryside slopes into the sparkling blue waters of the sea, and yes, the sea is really as blue as you see on post-cards. There is no trickery! It is incredible.
Beyond the landscape of Bodrum, the food is to die for. Real Turkish food, as made and consumed by those in Turkey is light, flavourful, fresh and super delicious. Naturally in such a temperate climate all the food is grown right there, and as such Fulya is a food-snob - no one can ever quite cook like her mother! And that's a fact (and a claim you hear constantly when befriending Turks - and somehow always true when it comes to the taste test).
We hope you enjoy this quick look at Fulya's home - as well as a brief meeting of her brother (the one doing backflips on the beach). Stay tuned for a post on Lisa's home!
