It is no secret that Barcelona is one of the most popular travel destinations in Europe, and for good reason. The capital of Catalonia of course is famous for all of the wonderful architecture, from the Gothic architecture of the old city, to the fantastical Modernisme work of Gaudi and his peers. However, it is impossible to miss the natural phenomenon of Montjuïc, with the many gardens, the Olympic Park, the MNAC, and the focus of today's post, nestled at the top of the hill, Castell de Montjuïc.
Of course from such a height the entire city can be seen from one side, and far off into the crystal blue Mediterranean Ocean on the other. To enter the old fort is free, and from the top of the walls you can take in the beauty of Barcelona, from the Pyrenees to the beach.
We decided to take our cameras for a stroll up to the old Spanish fort and show some love for one of Barcelona's great places to visit. Enjoy!
